Open Positions

Peer Specialist FT (Starting at $17)

​

Full Time Position available. Peer Recovery Support plays a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. This position involves mentoring, coaching, and connecting clients with essential resources to foster long-term recovery and personal growth.

​

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals in recovery.

  • Facilitate support groups and one-on-one coaching sessions.

  • Assist clients in developing recovery plans and coping strategies.

  • Connect clients with housing, employment, and treatment resources.

  • Help clients manage appointments with mental health professionals.

  • Help clients manage appointments with mental health professional.

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress.

  • Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and case managers to ensure holistic care.

  • Uphold client confidentiality and ethical standards.

​

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lived experience with substance use recovery and a strong commitment to helping others

  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire individuals in recovery.

  • Knowledge of local recovery resources and support networks.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

House Manager FT/PT (Starting at $15)

Part-Time / Full-Time positions available. Looking for live-in (free housing) or off-site house manager to manage property and residents. Preference will be given to applicants who can live-in.

General Requirements

  • Read/Write/Speak English

  • Basic computer skills

  • Similar work experience

  • Light physical weight

Volunteer Opportunities

Fundraising Organizer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and social individual who does not mine donating their time to assist us in coming up with creative fundraising events/activities that will allow us to increase money to support our organization. Fundraising is a great resource that we can utilize to reach more individuals with the hope of change.

Marketing Expert

We are looking for a creative and out-of-the-box individual who does not mine donating their time to assist us with our marketing tools. We welcome anyone who is willing to consulate, train, and/or produce marketing materials we may not or can improve on.

​

Board Member

We are looking for individuals who want to make an impact on the lives of men in recovery by participating in our organizations oversight as a Board of Member. We need someone who is willing to share their time, wisdom, and experiences with our organizations governing board in order to improve the quality and longevity of this organization. We're interested in skilled individuals who have become experts in their field of work. No board experience necessary.

Since 2003, Makana O Ke Akua has provided clean and sober transitional living for men in recovery. The purposes for which this organization is formed are charitable and exclusively for relieving and reducing unemployment, homelessness, crime, and chemical dependency of Native Hawaiians and all peoples' of Hawai'i. While aiding the local government in its role for community improvement and fighting the war on drugs we shall operate to restore the family unity in substance abused and poverty-stricken households; to provide education, resource awareness, vocational and employment assistance and finally lessening recidivism of the non-violent criminal/addict.
